Cultural tax

Since 01.01.2013, the city of Cologne has changed the previous statute on the cultural tax, so that in future, the cultural tax must only be paid on privately requested overnight stays.
However, business travellers must prove that the overnight stay is business/professionally related and urgently necessary, to be exempt from the cultural subsidy. The city of Cologne will only accept its own forms for this purpose, which you can download at https://www.stadt-koeln.de/politik-und-verwaltung/finanzen/kulturfoerderabgabe
For employees, the employer/master certification must be filled in beforehand by the company or relevant institution, and handed in to reception at the latest on check out. Self employed persons and freelancers must fill in the self certification, which we can also provide here on site.

We hope for your understanding in this matter, but due to this, in our eyes absolutely unspeakable statute, an enormous administrative act is imposed upon us, which means that unfortunately we cannot and may not avoid you having to pay the cultural subsidy, at least with regards to the aforementioned points.
